How much is my gold worth?

Enter the weight and karat. We'll tell you what the gold in it is worth at today's international price.

Common sizes:

For jewelry, weigh it on a digital kitchen scale. Stones and non-gold parts add weight that isn't gold.

How to avoid getting underpaid

  1. Check today's price before you leave home (with this calculator).
  2. Ask them to weigh the piece in front of you, in grams, on a scale you can see.
  3. Look for the purity stamp (10k/417, 14k/585, 18k/750) and ask them to test it in front of you.
  4. Get at least three quotes, in writing if possible, stating grams and karat.
  5. Ask what percentage of melt value they are offering.
  6. Be wary of anyone who won't tell you the weight or purity, or pressures you to decide now.
  7. Stones and non-gold parts aren't paid as gold: ask them to separate them.
  8. Antique, designer or branded pieces can be worth more than their gold: talk to an appraiser before selling them as scrap.
  9. Ask for a receipt showing weight, purity and the price paid.
